Ugandan legendary artist Pius Mayanja alias Pallaso Wednesday night was attacked by a xenophobic crowd in South Africa.
Through his brother, Jose Chameleon, Pallaso shared a video of the attack while he was driving with a friend.
Team Good Music singer was visiting Uganda for a couple of shows and shooting new singles.
The crowd which he identified as youths and children sorrounded them and he escaped by a whisker.
“They beat me up real bad. I fell down, I was stabbed. As I tried to run I was hit by a car. I tried to ask for help from the owner of the car but he just drove off so I kept running with people chasing me with machetes,” he narrated with teary eyes.
He added that he asked for help but no one could listen to him citing that xenophobia is real in South Africa.
“They pulled my hair and beat me up. Xenophobia is real. I am not sure I’ll leave this place alive because I’m still in hiding,” he added.
Taking to Twitter, Chameleon condemned the act and asked fans to pray for his brother.
Update: Pallaso was rescued and taken to the hospital where he is recuperating according to photos shared by his brother Jose Chameleon.
His fans have condemned the evil act of xenophobia that seems to be irresistible in South of Africa.
