Comedian Felix Odiwour popularly known as Jalang’o has pledged to pay school fees for a boy who reported with only two bars of soap.
The story of the form one Kanga High School boy touched many after his photo went viral.
Well-wishers pledged support to the boy in terms of shoppings and fee including Quickmart Supermarket which provided shoppings for the whole first term.
Taking to Instagram, Jalang’o promised to pay the whole 4-year school fee of 54,000 a year.
Fans thanked Jalang’o for the good gesture as others follow suit and championed for help to other needy students.
Education CS George Magoha maintained that all schools should admit students even if they don’t have full school fees.
Speaking in Machakos on Tuesday, Prof Magoha said it is against government policy to send a child who has made it to Form One home for lack of fees.
He further warned parents not to keep their children home for lack of fees, saying such parents would be arrested and arraigned in court once identified.
The CS added that in this age, parents do not need to worry about school fees, saying the government was determined to ensure all children get a secondary school education.
