The Kenya Navy officers have faced the wrath of Kenyans after allegedly abandoning fishermen in Indian ocean after their boat capsized.
The eight fishermen who by the grace of God survived 17 days in the Indian Ocean were saved on Christmas day marine police on patrol.
According to Malindi sub county Police commander, Vitalis Otieno, the boat were taken to deep waters and capsized by strong winds and they have been in the Ocean.
“They had been reported missing at Ziwayu beach, on the north coast and were using an Alhafidh Fibre 15HP boat,” the commander added.
Upon their rescue, the eight were rushed to Malindi Sub County Hospital for a medical check-up.
After spending 9 days in the sea, they spotted Kenya Navy soldiers who were on patrol.
The fishermen tried to ask for help, food or water to drink but the soldiers ignored them.
Kenyans online have shared their dissatisfaction with the Kenya Navy officers who have been in the spot the better part of this year.
The fishermen narrated that they had to survive for 17 days by drinking sea water and eating dry fish.
