Interior Cabinet Secretary and Super CS, Fred Matiang’i has declared Monday, August 12, 2019, a public holiday.
the holiday is to mark Eid-ul-Adha, which is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibraham to follow God’s command to sacrifice his son.
The holiday is also called the “Festival of the Sacrifice”, which is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two.
Through the interpretation, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead. In commemoration of this intervention, an animal is sacrificed and divided into three parts. One share is given to the poor and needy, another is kept for home, and the third is given to relatives.
This is also evident in Christians as it is in the Bible where God provided a lamb after Abraham was ready to slash his son.
