Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is on the spot again following his dramatic arrest in Voi over graft charges and humiliation in prison.
A local publication, The Nairobian, highlighted a damning expose on Sonko’s company during his arrest and UON student leader is said to have been with Sonko during that fateful day.
The paper claimed that Ms Anne Mwangi Mvurya was with Sonko when he was taken to Voi railway station before being airlifted to Nairobi.
The publication also claimed that an officer who talked to them revealed to them that Ms Mvurya looked ‘shy and pregnant’.
Speaking to Kenyans, Nairobi County Communications Director, Jacob Elkana, termed the story as a fabrication.
“Those are cooked, malicious and purely lies. Journalists should verify some facts before going to press. The governor was arrested alone as you can see in the viral video that has been doing rounds on social media. We must differentiate reality and lies,” Elkana stated.
Sonko was released on Ksh 15 million cash bail on Wednesday as investigation on the Ksh 357 million county fund that was embezzled.
Kenyans took to Twitter to condemn the media for spreading lies instead of focusing on things of national importance.
From the viral video on Sonko’s arrest, there is a lady who covered her face throughout and Nairobian believes that she is the UON Student leader.
