FaceApp, designed by Russian developers came to light in 2018 when it offered a fun gender swap feature where users were able to share their images in different genders.
Kenyans on Twitter were not left behind, using the hashtag #FaceAppChallenge many took to share photos of their old selves. The app amazingly enables you to add filters, different hairstyles among other very interesting features.
Other users uploaded photos of famous politicians on the app and posted the results online. The app is currently the most downloaded on the Google Store and IOS with million downloads.
The famous ‘Vijana Tuache Mihadarati’ hitmaker from Kibera was not spared.
By allowing the app to access your phone gallery, experts have warned against a possible privacy breach that could see the app upload your private data to the Russian servers, but Kenyans don’t give a damn. Others have however argued that the app only accesses the one tapped photo and not the entire gallery.
Well, let’s have fun, for now, age gracefully and keep your current Faceapp images for future comparability purposes.
