According to Kipkorir, the reggae and dancehall artists were completely unpopular in the country. He narrated to the online community on how he engaged taxi drivers and waiters in the restaurants he visited, and their replies confirmed the musicians were not known.

I was in Jamaica for one week & travelled across the country. I asked the drivers I used & waiters in the restaurants I visited if they knew Alaine or Morgan Heritage .. None of the Jamaicans I asked knew them … They are unknowns in Jamaica .. Kenya makes “stars” of non-stars.

Donald received harsh criticism from Kenyans bashing him that he might have asked the Jamaica citizens with a deep Kalenjin accent hence could not comprehend what he was talking about.
