Coast Police boss, Rashid Yakub has dropped assault case against embattled Governor Mike Sonko which he filed last year after the dramatic arrest.
The police boss filed an application to drop the case at the Voi Law Court on Monday.
This follows the assault by governor Sonko during his arrest in Voi over graft charges that has seen him out of county offices.
Sonko arrived in Voi, Taita-Taveta County, Monday morning where he was expected to face assault, resisting arrest and offensive conduct charges.
Senior Resident Magistrate Frederick Nyakundi said he will rule on the matter on Wednesday 21st January 2020.
